The System

The System is the hidden structure beneath Duela.

It governs levels, stats, classes, growth, and authority over The Essence.

Most people do not know The System exists. They experience its effects, but they do not see numbers, menus, or visible interfaces.

Levels

Levels represent authority over The Essence.

A higher-level person has more ability to influence reality through action, skill, magic, or force.

Levels can be gained through experience, effort, achievement, helping others, and killing.

Stats

Stats describe the body's and mind's basic capacities.

The main stats are:

• Strength
• Vitality
• Agility
• Intelligence

These are not visible to ordinary people.

Classes

Classes depend on role and perception.

A person recognized as a warrior, king, priest, chef, scholar, guardian, or similar role may gain a class reflecting that role.

Classes affect growth and interaction with The Essence.

Secrecy

The System is hidden from almost everyone.

Gods and a few exceptional beings know more than ordinary mortals. Public discovery of The System would radically change civilization.

Importance

The System is one of the trunk-canon foundations of Duela.

It should not be casually contradicted by stories.
